About Us
Once upon a time, there was a man named KB and a woman named AR.
Starting in the days of old (which some call the 1990s), back when the internet was young and rich people carried pagers, KB programmed web applications, and AR programmed databases. Like many of the youth of their time, they watched their careers grow up alongside the internet. When they met in 2003 (online, of course), they found that they loved each other, and they enjoy being silly, so when they wed in 2006, they put happy fat chocolate-dipped strawberry people atop their lovely cakes. And their wedding felt complete.
During the spring of 2007, the husband KB and the wife AR built a lovely house on a lovely suburban cul-de-sac. They wanted to find a name for their home (because everything likes to 
have a name). They realized their initials together, KB + AR, spelled "KBAR", which sounded to them like the grand name of a sprawling ranch where cattle graze and horses run free. Now, while their suburban back yard is plenty big enough for two lovely oak trees and a grill, cattle and horses are not allowed. But they loved the name, and they enjoy being silly, so they named their house KBAR. And their home felt complete.
Why KBAR (from love comes a name)
In summer of 2007, one of their lovely nieces wrote from camp and addressed the envelope to KBAR. Inside, the lovely letter began with "Dear KBAR, I love you." The husband and wife preferred to think that the letter was meant for them, and not for their home. Since they loved the letter, and they enjoy being silly, they began calling themselves KBAR. And their name and their home felt complete.
For Christmas of 2007, AR's sister gave them a "K" brand with a bar under the K. It was the kind of brand used for steaks that have been cooked on a suburban grill, not the kind used for cattle or horses, since those are not allowed. Since they loved the brand, and they enjoy being silly, they grilled KBAR steaks for their friends. And their back yard and their name and their home felt complete.
A new begnning (consulting and stamps)
In spring of 2008, KB started consulting, so KB and AR formed an LLC named KBAR Consulting. They got official numbers from Texas, and opened a business bank account, and got a stamp with "KBAR Consulting LLC" to endorse checks. Since they loved the stamp, and they enjoy being silly, they spent an afternoon stamping random papers and declaring, "Look! It says KBAR! We're a company!" And their company and their back yard and their name and their home felt complete.
In the winter of 2009, they started programming applications for the iPhone. So they registered with Apple and set up this web site. They loved their web site, and they enjoy being silly, so they wrote this tale to explain what they were about. And while their back yard and their name and their home felt complete, it is almost certain that their company and their web site and their apps are certain never to feel complete at all.
